Company History

Lumin Publishing was formed in February 2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the goal of becoming the region’s leading magazine publisher. In 2004, after just one year in business, Lumin won three national “Maggie” awards, and was a finalist in a fourth category. Lumin beat out national publications for Oracle, Dell Computer, Nissan, Infiniti and Disneyland. In some cases Lumin won even after spending up to 80% less on creative and editorial budgets. Lumin has won numerous additional awards since its first successful trip to the Maggie Awards, including six Maggies, five Utah Best of State awards in Printing/Publishing, and five regional Golden Spike awards.

Lumin’s first project was Business Connect, a monthly regional business publication sent to 15,000 business decision-makers. In September 2003, Lumin began publishing Zions Bank Community magazine, and 84-page bi-monthly magazine sent to 45,000 Zions Bank account holders in Idaho and Utah. In late 2006 Lumin created Launch, an entrepreneurial digital magazine for a Utah venture capital firm. Most recently, Lumin has expanded from the magazine format into the more economical newsletter category. In 2007, Lumin expanded from the magazine format into the more economical newsletter category. For example, we create a 16-page newsletter for VanCott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy. VanCott uses this quarterly newsletter to increase customer loyalty, but also mails out several thousand copies to prospective clients in the community.
